West Ham United have reprtedly identified Sydie Peck as one of their primary transfer targets as the club looks to strengthen its midfield options ahead of the new season.

The Sheffield United youngster has attracted significant attention following an impressive campaign in the Championship, where he established himself as one of the division’s most promising midfield talents. Capable of operating both as a defensive midfielder and a box-to-box player, Peck earned praise for his composure in possession, work rate, and ability to drive his team forward under pressure.

The England Under-21 international enjoyed a breakthrough season at Bramall Lane, making around 40 Championship appearances while contributing five goals and four assists. His performances helped cement his reputation as one of Sheffield United’s standout players and earned him recognition among the league’s brightest young prospects.

West Ham’s recruitment department is believed to be highly impressed by the midfielder’s profile and sees him as a long-term solution in the center of the park. The club is keen to inject more energy, mobility, and athleticism into its midfield as it prepares for the challenges of the upcoming campaign.

With uncertainty surrounding the futures of several senior midfielders, including Tomas Soucek and Edson Alvarez, the Hammers are exploring younger options capable of developing into key players. Club officials reportedly believe Peck possesses the qualities needed to adapt successfully to top-flight football while offering immediate value to the squad.

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo is said to favor players who can contribute instantly while also providing long-term potential. Peck’s versatility, maturity, and consistent performances have made him an attractive option as West Ham continue their squad rebuild.

Sheffield United, however, are under no pressure to part ways with one of their most valuable academy graduates. The midfielder remains under contract until 2028, giving the Blades a strong negotiating position. Reports suggest the Championship club would demand a fee in the region of £15 million to £20 million before considering any sale.

Financial considerations following another season outside the Premier League could influence Sheffield United’s decision, but club officials are expected to seek maximum value for the highly-rated youngster.

West Ham may also face stiff competition for Peck’s signature. Several Premier League clubs, including Brentford and Nottingham Forest, have reportedly monitored his progress, raising the possibility of a bidding battle during the transfer window.

Peck began his youth career at Arsenal before making the switch to Sheffield United in 2021. Since then, he has developed into a key first-team player and has already amassed close to 90 senior appearances for the Yorkshire club.

West Ham are expected to make an initial approach in the coming weeks as they look to move quickly in the market and secure one of England’s most promising young midfielders before rival clubs step up their interest.
